THUNDER BAY --  Another person has died from COVID-19.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit on Thursday announced the death, the 62nd in the region, along with 11 new cases. It's the fourth straight day a person has died as a result of COVID-19. There have been 10 deaths related to COVID in April. There were 22 in March.

The new cases, combined with three now considered resolved, leave the district with 59 active cases, the most since April 15, when there were 61.

Eight of the cases reside in Thunder Bay and surrounding areas, while three are deemed to reside in district communities. There is also one additional resident in hospital.

Nine of the cases are considered close contact, with one related to travel outside of Northwestern Ontario and one still under investigation.
