Marvel's Phil Coulson star Clark Gregg is divorcing his wife of 19 years, Jennifer Grey.

The pair made a joint announcement on social media yesterday (July 3), with Dirty Dancing actress Jennifer posting a photo of herself and Clark smiling together.

In the caption, they confirmed an amicable separation earlier this year.

"After 19 years together, we separated in january, knowing we'd always be a family who loves, values and cares for each other," it began.

"We recently made the difficult decision to divorce, but we remain close and are deeply grateful for the life we've shared and the wonderful daughter we've raised - jennifer & clark p.s. totally crying as we post this."

58-year-old Clark and 60-year-old Jennifer began dating in the summer of 2000, before tying the knot in July 2001 at Martha's Vineyard.

Their now 18-year-old daughter Stella was born five months later.

Meanwhile, Clark previously revealed that he almost turned down the role of Coulson all the way back in pre-production for Iron Man.

"I saw that cast and I thought, 'Man, I'm going to get cut out! I'm going to tell everyone I'm in this, because I love the comics, and then it's going to be, who do we cut? Jeff Bridges, Gwyneth Paltrow or Clark?'" he recalled.

"I had just done a part in something else, and when I went to see it, it was really tiny, and it was embarrassing, a little bit. Like, 'I didn't sign up for that gig – this is going to happen again!'"
