6 new COVID-19 cases confirmed in Barnstable County

The state Department of Public Health said Friday there were 290 new cases of coronavirus in Massachusetts, including 212 cases confirmed by the molecular test for the live virus and 78 probable cases due to positive antibody tests and exposure or symptoms.

The total number of cases in Massachusetts since pandemic reporting began this winter is 109,628.

State officials said there were six new cases of coronavirus on the Cape for a total of 1,553 since reporting began.

Public health officials also confirmed one additional death on Cape Cod on Friday. On Cape Cod, 148 people diagnosed with coronavirus have died.

The state fatality count stands at 8,149, including 17 new deaths reported Friday.

Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis reports two coronavirus patients, while Falmouth Hospital is treating five coronavirus patients. Neither hospital had patients in their ICUs on Friday.
