• Kate Middleton is calmer since being in quarantine, says a body-language expert.
  • Kate seems much more ready to assume her future role as queen.

The royal family, including Kate Middleton, has been in lockdown due to coronavirus. But as restrictions begin to loosen, it looks like Kate is embracing a different version of herself. According to body-language expert Judi James, the need for Kate to appear on video calls has given her the opportunity to drop some formalities.

“It’s given Kate the perfect motivation to drop some of her more formal skills and reveal a much more relaxed and accessible side, and this has allowed some hidden strengths to emerge,” James told Express.co.uk. “Her body language has always been impeccable, but her lockdown skills of bridging the social distancing via a change in her facial expressions and gesticulations has probably made her the star of the royal video and roadshow.”

Some have speculated that Kate has “struggled” with her senior royal duties, especially after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry cut senior ties with the royal family, leaving even more responsibility on her shoulders. However, a source told People that Kate “certainly would resent someone saying that she is struggling.” Plus, they added, “if anything, she is relishing the role more than ever. And she will do it all to the best of her ability.”

James seems to agree, explaining that time spent in lockdown has given Kate the chance to become even more prepared for her position in the royal family. “Kate’s active listening skills have also been notched up,” James added. “These newly used, post-lockdown skills seem to have had an interpersonal effect on Kate, too, as she looks more relaxed than ever before in her solo roles. They have also subtly promoted her into the role of leader when she’s working but without making her look remote or inaccessible.”
