Kurt Angle explains why he won’t sign with AEW

WWE.com

Last month, Paul Wight debuted with AEW and said he had the “biggest scoop ever” about another huge star signing with All Elite Wrestling. Many pro wrestling fans immediately thought of CM Punk Kurt Angle. Angle was released by WWE last April, and was one of the few stars not under contract to WWE whose name lived up to that kind of hype. Your Olympic Hero even teased that he would be the AEW mystery signing. It instead turned out to be Christian.

In an interview on The Hannibal TV, Angle explained that talks never really got serious with AEW, and he wants to remain loyal to WWE:

“Well, my relationship with WWE is really good, and I’d like to keep it that way. I don’t have any plans of going to AEW. You know, I haven’t really spoke to them much. Just a couple messages sent back and forth, but nothing serious. I have something going on with WWE right now, and it most likely will materialize. I can’t talk about it, but that’s what I’m waiting on, and I don’t want to mess that up. You know, the company’s been so good to me, and I want to be loyal to them.”

This doesn’t sound like a performer who will be signing with AEW any time soon. In fact, based on his tease, perhaps we’ll be seeing him back on WWE programming sooner rather than later.

What do you think the future holds for Kurt Angle in pro wrestling?
